Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in. Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own. At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

THE Happy Hour to rule them all. Every drink was perfect, and service was phenomenal. There wasn't a single thing we didn't love. We ordered one of each for the apps and the arepa was my favourite by far, my boyfriend loved the beets salad with steak on it.

Absolutely loved this place. Great atmosphere and the food was delicious. The menu was small but was eclectic and modern without being pretentious. The combination of different flavors in each dish was mouthwatering. I highly recommend.

Everything we had--starters, main plates and desserts were amazing. They were super respectful of my mushroom allergy (even though it's not life-threatening) and even put the mushrooms in my husband's starter on the side so we could share (which was wonderful because his starter was delicious). My friend has an incredibly cheesy sense of humor and indulged in it a lot but our server was a great sport and very sweet.

You're not allowed to drive if you do bottomless brunch. They call the cops if you try to leave.

The owners' goal is sustainability. They grow 20% of their own seasonal vegetables. 50% of ingredients sourced locally. All animal proteins pasture-raised with non-GMO feed. All seafood certified by Marine Stewardship Council and Monterey Bay Seafood Watch. All healthy non-GMO oils.

I totally recommend having one

Go to the restaurant and ask them for one at the front desk.

They have inexpensive small plates but drinks and a large plate would be around $40
